Privacy Policy

FloofCam (“we”, “our”, or “us”) provides a service that allows users to turn their devices into pet monitoring cameras. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information.
1. Information We Collect
a. Account Information
- Email address
- Authentication data, including Google account information if you sign in with Google
b. Usage Data
- Device type, browser, and basic technical logs
- Interaction with the service, such as session creation
- Browser push notification subscription data, such as endpoint and cryptographic keys, when you enable notifications
c. Activity and Event Data
- FloofCam may collect and store activity history related to your devices and sessions
- This may include when a monitor comes online or goes offline, when a stream starts or ends, when viewers join or leave, when talkback is used, and alert-related events such as noise detection
- This data is associated with your account and devices
d. Video and Audio Data
- FloofCam may process live video and/or audio streams between your devices
- FloofCam may analyze live audio in real time to detect elevated sound levels and generate user-enabled alerts
- We do not store or record video/audio by default
- Streams are transmitted for real-time viewing only unless explicitly stated otherwise
- Audio used for noise detection is processed in real time on your device and is not stored or transmitted for analysis beyond what is required to deliver alerts
- By default, audio used for noise detection is processed transiently and is not stored as a recording unless explicitly stated otherwise
e. Alert Photos
- If you enable premium photo capture for noise alerts, FloofCam may briefly activate the monitor device camera to capture a still image when noise is detected
- Alert photos may also be captured from an already active camera stream
- Alert photos are associated with your account, device, and activity history
- Alert photos are stored temporarily and are accessible only through authenticated account access
- Alert photo capture is optional and is off by default
2. How We Use Information
We use your information to:
- Provide and operate the service
- Authenticate users
- Maintain and improve performance
- Prevent abuse and misuse
- Deliver alerts and notifications you enable, including noise alerts
- Provide the Activity Log feature
- Improve reliability and product functionality using activity and event history
- Capture, store, and display alert photos when you enable premium photo capture
3. Data Storage
- Account data may be stored on secure servers
- Video/audio streams are designed to be transient and not persistently stored
- Alert photos, when enabled, may be stored temporarily using cloud object storage
- Alert photos are protected through access controls and short-lived signed access URLs
- We take reasonable measures to protect your data but cannot guarantee absolute security
4. Third-Party Services
We may use third-party services including:
- Authentication providers, such as Google
- Hosting and infrastructure providers
- Cloud object storage providers, such as Cloudflare R2, for temporary alert photo storage
These services may collect data according to their own privacy policies.
5. User Responsibility
You are responsible for:
- Where and how you place your camera devices
- Ensuring you have consent to monitor any environment or individuals
- Complying with all applicable privacy and surveillance laws
6. Data Retention
We retain account data only as long as necessary to provide the service or comply with legal obligations. Activity and event history may be retained as part of your account history and may be deleted when your account is deleted.
Alert photos are retained for a limited period, currently up to 14 days, unless deleted earlier or unless retention changes are disclosed in the Service.
7. Your Rights
You may:
- Request deletion of your account
- Stop using the service at any time
